I was never one for enjoying poetry that
much. Many years ago though, a friend introduced me to poetry by Merrit
Malloy. At the time Merrit was writing poetry of relationships and
people in her life. I immediately enjoyed reading her work. I found
that it touch on many of my own memories---of both good and bad.
As we get older I think most of us have
found and lost love from time to time. Merrit's poetry reflects on such
experiences in a way that I think most people can "feel" what she says---having
experienced it in varying degrees themselves. I just happen to think that
her poems really "hit home" for many people. Even though they may be
written from a woman's point of view, both genders should be able to equally
relate to what she writes.
Below are a few poems, from two of her books, that I especially liked. Actually it was hard to pick just a "few"---so I
simply built a long page of them with some of my favorites at the
beginning. I hope you too enjoy them.
There is also a third link listed
below. This is someone that Grubby knows ---that also liked Merrit's work
and tried in their own humble way to mimic her style. Grubby enjoyed this
work too---and hopes that you will also.
